Vectibix (panitumumab , rHuMAb-EGFr) targets the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFr). The EGFr pathway is important in normal and tumor cell growth. Panitumumab is an entirely human monoclonal IgG2 antibody binding to the EGFr. 

This nerve growth factor (NGF) antagonist is targeting chronic pain, a debilitating condition frequently associated with osteoarthritis, diabetic peripheral neuropathy and shingles (especially in the elderly). NGF controls expression of pain mediators in nerve terminals.
